Irish Weekend Surf Forecast

Irish Weekend Surf Forecast

Forecast for Friday 9th May through to Monday 12th May

Dublin bay will see little in the way of swell but there will be some wind at times. Donegal bay has an amazing surf forecast for Saturday, Sunday and Monday so if you can make the trip it will definitely be worth it. Wind will be a little more marginal but there will be enough for windsports in a few windows over the weekend. Overall the weather looks great so if you can get out on the water make the most of it.

  • Saturday: 2 metre swell at 13 seconds from the north west building through the day. This is an absolutely pumping forecast for May. Winds will be southerly until about 2pm so best to get on it early. Winds will turn into the north west after that. Great day of surfing to be had.

  • Sunday: Another day of pumping surf. 2 metre swell at 13 seconds from the north west. Winds will be southerly in the morning but turning onshore at around 11am so best get on it early.

  • Monday: More great surf to be had. 1.7 metre swell from the WNW with ENE winds. All the west facing surf beaches will have fun conditions for every level.

Wind Forecast

  • Friday: No wind today.

  • Saturday: 8-12 knots from the south between 11am and 2pm. Looks like a foil powered day.

  • Sunday: Wind will build from the late afternoon - strongest period will be between 5pm and 7pm giving gusts up to 16 knots.

  • Monday: Wind is a bit all over the place today.

NB: This is all subject to change at short notice. This being Ireland weather systems are volatile and a forecast made even the night before can change over night. Hopefully this forecast blog can give a good prediction of what will happen in the days ahead so you can plan the days you look to go on the water but it is always a good idea to check more location specific forecasting models before you go both to know what equipment to bring and for safety.
