Forecast for Friday 31st of March through to Monday 3rd of April 2023.
This weekend brings a bit of a mixed bag. The East coast has a craic at amazing surf on Friday but not much else in terms of wind or waves for the rest of the weekend. Donegal Bay has wind on Saturday and Monday with waves to be had but nothing really epic surf wise.
East Coast – Dublin Area
Surf Forecast
-
Friday: Insane looking forecast if it comes through – 1.5m south east swell at 16 seconds with light winds from the NNW. Swell will drop as the day goes on so best time is the morning. Rare the East coast lights up with such a long period swell.
-
Saturday: No waves but light wind. Good day for paddle boarding.
-
Sunday: No waves today. Not much wind either so good day to go for a paddle.
-
Monday: Potential for some waves from maybe 2pm onwards. 1.6 metres at 6 seconds from the south will build into the evening. Winds will also be from the south. If it doesn’t get in to Dublin bay then further down into Wicklow should have a wave.
Wind Forecast
-
Friday: No wind today.
-
Saturday: No wind today.
-
Sunday: No wind today.
-
Monday: 8-16 knots from the south east at 10am building slightly and staying around the 11-19 knots range for the rest of the day. Should be potentially good wind sports action.

NB: This is all subject to change at short notice. This being Ireland weather systems are volatile and a forecast made even the night before can change over night. Hopefully this forecast blog can give a good prediction of what will happen in the days ahead so you can plan the days you look to go on the water but it is always a good idea to check more location specific forecasting models before you go both to know what equipment to bring and for safety.
