Irish Weekend Surf Forecast

Irish Weekend Surf Forecast

No forecast 13th June, back to normal from next Friday

Forecast for Friday 6th June through to Monday 9th June

More unsettled weather over the weekend will bring wind to both the North West and Dublin bay. Surf wise it is not an amazing forecast - Dublin will be flat and Donegal bay will have waves but they will be impacted by fairly strong onshore winds.

East Coast – Dublin Area

Surf Forecast

  • Friday: Flat today

  • Saturday: Flat today

  • Sunday: Flat today

  • Monday: Flat today

Wind Forecast

  • Friday: Westerly wind today generally in the 10-18 knot range with a slight increase to 10-20 knots between 2pm and 5pm. Not a bad forecast for windsurfing and winging on Malahide estuary.

  • Saturday: 10-17 knots from the WNW at 9am building slowly through the day to 14-24 knots - another good day for wing or windsurf at Malahide estuary.

  • Sunday: 9-15 knots from the west for most of the day with periods where it gusts up to 18 knots. Big gear day but again good for wing and windsurfing on the estuary.

  • Monday: Fairly light through the day but increasing in the afternoon to reach 10-17 knots from the south west at 7pm. This should be enough to get you going on big kit or foil.

West Coast – Donegal Bay

Surf Forecast

  • Friday: 1.9 metre north west swell at 10 seconds with west winds. There will be waves for sure but with the wind direction not so easy to find clean conditions.

  • Saturday: 2 metre north west swell at 8 seconds dropping slowly through the day. There will be waves again but winds will be stronger from the north west making clean waves almost impossible to find.

  • Sunday: 1.7 metre west swell at 10 seconds dropping down to 9 seconds as the day goes on. Winds will be from the WSW in the morning making clean waves a little easier to find on north facing coastlines but the wind will then turn more westerly at around 11 and increase in strength making for messy surf.

  • Monday: 1.4 metre west swell at 9 seconds. Wind will be from the WSW for most of the day giving small beginner friendly surf on more northerly facing beaches.

Wind Forecast

  • Friday: 9-13 knots from the west for much of the day. Best get out your foil today!

  • Saturday: 15-20 knots from the NNW from 11am increasing to 17-22 knots by 3pm. Looks like a great forecast for wing, windsurf or kite.

  • Sunday: 15-21 knots from the west for much of the day. Lovely forecast!

  • Monday: Wind is a bit iffy today.

NB: This is all subject to change at short notice. This being Ireland weather systems are volatile and a forecast made even the night before can change over night. Hopefully this forecast blog can give a good prediction of what will happen in the days ahead so you can plan the days you look to go on the water but it is always a good idea to check more location specific forecasting models before you go both to know what equipment to bring and for safety.
